Introduction

Welcome to the Privacy Policy of Kinen, operated by Systeo SARL. Protecting the privacy of our users, especially children, is our absolute priority.

Kinen is a comprehensive Parental Control application designed to help parents create a safe digital environment for their children. This document explicitly outlines what data we collect, why we need it, and how we strictly protect it in compliance with Google Play Developer Policies.

1. Prominent Disclosure & Sensitive Permissions

Before requesting any sensitive permissions, the Kinen Child application explicitly displays an in-app "Prominent Disclosure" screen detailing exactly why the permission is needed. The permissions are used strictly as follows:

A. AccessibilityService API (Crucial for App Blocking)

Strict Use Case: The AccessibilityService API is used exclusively for Parental Control purposes, specifically to monitor active apps and block those restricted by parents, and to enforce screen time limits. It is strictly used only with explicit parental consent.

  • What we DO NOT collect: We DO NOT collect or record passwords, banking data, personal messages, clipboard content, typed text, or any private on-screen content.
  • No Accessibility Data Storage: Accessibility event data is processed locally in real-time and is never stored on our servers.
  • How it works: The service only reads the package name of the currently opened application (to block restricted apps) and reads the browser URL bar (to block inappropriate websites).

B. Background Location Access (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION)

  • Functionality: We collect precise and coarse location data even when the app is closed or not in use. This allows parents to track their child's real-time location and receive instant Geofencing alerts.
  • Privacy Assurance: Location data is transmitted securely and is strictly visible only to the authenticated parent account.

C. Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES)

Strict Use Case: This permission is strictly limited to parental control functionality. Without this permission, parents cannot manage or block installed apps.

  • The list of installed applications is securely sent to the Parent's dashboard so the parent can review and apply individual blocking rules.

D. Device Administrator Privileges

  • Purpose: We request Device Administrator rights used exclusively to prevent unauthorized uninstall by the child.
  • Revocation: Parents can revoke this permission at any time via the parent dashboard or device settings.

E. Local VpnService (Web Filtering)

  • Functionality: The VpnService intercepts DNS requests locally on the device to block access to inappropriate websites.
  • Privacy Assurance: This is a local-only VPN. We DO NOT route your internet traffic through external proxy servers. We do not collect, store, or sell your browsing history.

F. Permission Revocation & Parental Control

  • Parental Control: All monitoring features are configured and controlled exclusively by the authenticated parent.
  • Permission Revocation: Parents may revoke any granted permission (Accessibility, Location, VPN, Device Admin) at any time from the Android Settings or directly stop the services from the Kinen Parent application.

2. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

The Kinen Child application is designed to be used by children (all age groups, including those under 13) strictly under the direct supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

  • Compliance: We are fully compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR-K guidelines.
  • No Data Sale: Children's data is NEVER sold to advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties.
  • No Advertising: We do not show any advertisements in the child application.
  • No Profiling: We absolutely do not use children's data for profiling, targeted advertising, or any marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Integrations (Facebook Login)

Parents can authenticate into the Kinen Parent application using Facebook Login via our secure Keycloak identity broker.

  • Data Received: When using Facebook Login, we only receive your public profile name and email address to create and secure your parental account.

4. Anti-Stalkerware Policy

Kinen is NOT a spying or stalkerware application. It is designed for transparent parental control.

  • The Kinen Child application cannot be hidden from the device launcher.
  • The application always displays a persistent, visible notification whenever it is actively monitoring location, VPN, or background processes, ensuring the child is always aware of the supervision.

5. Data Retention & Deletion Policy

Data Encryption

All data transmitted between devices and our servers is heavily encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS / WSS).

Strict NO SALE Policy

We DO NOT sell, rent, or share any personal data, location data, or app usage statistics to third parties.

Data Retention Schedule

  • Location History: Retained for a maximum of 30 days before being automatically purged.
  • App Usage Stats: Retained for 30 days for reporting purposes.
  • Account Deletion: All child data (location, stats, rules) is deleted immediately and permanently upon parent account deletion.

Parents can request the complete deletion of their account and all associated data at any time via the "Delete Account" button in the Kinen Parent application or by contacting us.
